Top Tips for Those Taking a Motorbike Tour

If you have decided to go on a motorbike tour then you will have a number of things to take into consideration before you head off, such as whether you have everything you need, whether you have the right bike insurance, if you have planned your route carefully and whether much more.

The following are some things to think if you want to get the most from your motorbike tour:• If you are taking your motorbike on a long tour then it would stand to reason that you would have it looked at before you head off.

Getting your motorbike serviced before you go is a very good idea but a lot of people neglect to do this.  Failure to do this could be very risky because should you encounter any problems with your bike, it could take days from your trip while you try to get it repaired.  It might also be a good idea to have some spare light bulbs with you just in case.• Choose your clothing wisely.  Think about where you will be travelling.  Remember that if travelling around Britain, the weather can be very changeable so you need to pack both warm clothing and clothing for warmer weather.

If you are travelling around certain countries in Europe then make sure you have checked the weather for that time of year.• Have a plan before you go and follow it as best you can.  It is not necessary to be too rigid because a bit of flexibility is always good.  Being spontaneous can make a holiday even better but you should have an idea of where you want to go.• Make sure you have sufficient bike insurance in place to cover you while you are touring.

Tell the insurance company exactly where you will be going and for how long and get them to quote you for bike insurance.  Get quotes from a few different companies so you can choose the best deal.• Make sure you are following the rules of the road for wherever you are visiting.

The last thing you want is to get fined for speeding or another illegal driving manoeuvre.• Think about what you are going to need for the areas you are travelling to.  Even in summer, there may be snow when you are up very high so remember this and make sure you have packed the right gear.• Obviously you will not want to drink and drive.  For one thing it is illegal and for another it is highly dangerous and could cause an accident.

However drinking too much the night before you are heading off on your bike is also unwise.  You could still have too much alcohol in your bloodstream and could be over the limit.
